About Mid-Atlantic Ballet

Our Goals

To encourage and stimulate interest in and promote
the art of ballet and other forms of dance

To provide a medium of expression for dance artists

To encourage excellent artistic achievement through the medium of dance

MAB stands for Mid-Atlantic Ballet, of course, but we like to say that MAB also means “mind, art, body.” Founded in 1997, MAB is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing the minds and bodies of its students as well as promoting dance as an art form.

MAB's superb training attracts students ages four through adult from throughout the Delaware Valley. Our carefully devised syllabus blends English, Russian, and American philosophies of ballet training.

Artistic Director Sandra Davis emphasizes a thorough mastery of technique at every level. Serious dancers at MAB may develop both the discipline and the technique needed to pursue careers as professional dancers or dance instructors. Some alumni of the program have chosen to further their dance education under scholarship at schools such as The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and the Ailey School/Fordham University in New York City .  Other alumni have gone on to dance at the Pennsylvania Ballet, Colorado Ballet, and Columbia City Ballet of South Carolina, among others.

MAB is committed to providing high-quality performance opportunities for its students. With two main-stage productions of full-length ballets each year at the University of Delaware's Mitchell Hall, as well as several community performances and outreach programs, MAB's students continually delight and amaze audiences in northern Delaware and surrounding communities.

Mission Statement

To foster an environment in which all dancers can develop their Minds by gaining an appreciation of the Arts as well as train their Bodies through classical ballet, dance instruction and superior performances.
