THE NUTCRACKER NEWS

The Nutcracker is here and we are busy with rehearsals and getting very excited with all the preparation for our first major production of the season. The dancers are not the only ones involved though in the production. We need the parents to be as involved with the production and so please join us on Saturday, October 17th. We will begin at 2pm with the students and parents and at 2:30pm, the parents will continue in the pre-production meeting learning how you can volunteer. Your participation in the different committees will insure the best production. You will get to know other parents and get to spend time working with the dancers who are incredible. Please place Oct. 17 on your calendars and come prepared to receive your production packets and all the good news on how you can make The Nutcracker part of your holiday magic.

Hiring of New Staff and Faculty Members:

Sandra Davis- Ballet Mistress

Kristin Brown- Dance Instructor
Carolyn Peck- Dance Instructor
Katie Bloom- Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Review of temporary studio space and negotiations on renovations of old studio. Please note the old studio on Main Street still stands. The owner, Jeff Lang, is in the beginning stages of demolition and we look forward to seeing some action there over the next couple of weeks. We are grateful to be established in the temporary space but will keep in constant contact with Jeff to insure that we are apprised of any news as it happens.

Grants- We received $19190 grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts for our General Operating Expenses. All paperwork for reception of the grant money has been submitted and the entire grant has been received.

Marketing for new students- ideas were surfaced for the marketing of MAB and how we can “spread the good news” about all that is happening at MAB and generating more student enrollment. The marketing committee will be investigating this.

The Board will meet on October 6th for our next meeting and highlights will be provided in the November newsletter.

SOME FINAL THOUGHTS

Often when I think of MAB, I am grateful that our dancers have an environment that trains their minds and bodies through the art of dance. We have a joyous mission and through all our efforts that mission is taking root in every dancer’s step. Please continue to support your dancer and generate in them the desire and love for dance that I witness in them as they come to class. I am reminded of the following quote by Agnes DeMille: To dance is to be out of yourself.  Larger, more beautiful, more powerful. This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking. Let us all go beyond ourselves and find the power to dance and laugh and dance again.

Please remember to check the website; there is much information posted there and it is so much fun to look at the picturesJ Look for the next newsletter in November.

I look forward to seeing everyone on October 17th. We will have the pre-production packets on that date. So enjoy these beautiful fall days and know that I am looking forward to seeing you in the studio.
